Step 2. Renew Your Mind
Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
As you submit your body, God starts working on your mind. Many people accuse us of being “brain-washed” like it is a bad thing. I prefer to call it “Bible-washed”! That is one of the purposes of the Bible. The Bible has a way of purifying your thoughts and get you thinking the right way. Notice Ephesians 5:26 :
Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word."
As you submit to God, you will find that the world is trying to force you to submit to them. It takes a conscious effort to say no to the world. What is the world? According to this verse, it is something that happens in your mind. The world is trying to get you to think like they do. When you see that the polls say that a majority think this way. The thing to do is find out what the Bible says and think that way, the Bible way. The Bible can renew your mind and get you thinking godly. I don’t know about you, but I have a very trashy, wicked mind. I must constantly be guarding my thoughts to think on the right things. One of the things that helps me is memorizing scripture and reading and meditating on the Bible. One of the reasons I write is to keep my mind focused on the right things. Good Christian music and good classical music has been a tremendous help in focusing my mind. Focus your mind on the right things.
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
